Joël Lavoie
Originaire de Rivière la Paix, une région riche en sons et en couleurs, Joël a toujours compté la guitare parmi ses premiers amours. Joël n’adhère à aucune école musicale même s’il avoue être influencé par les grands architectes du Blues, du Jazz, du Rock, de la Musique du Monde et du Folk. Il demeure à la recherche de la Mélodie universelle. En plus de travailler avec une variété impressionnante de musiciens et de chanteurs albertains de toutes souches, Joël est très demandé comme enseignant de guitare. Il donne aussi des ateliers d’écriture pour le Centre de Développement musical. Joël a lancé son premier album solo La récolte en septembre 2008.
From Peace River, AB, an area rich in sound and colour, Joël has always considered the guitar his first love. His approach to this instrument and songwriting has been greatly influenced by artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Paul Simon as well as many blues men. Having been influence by great blues, jazz, rock, world and folk architects, Joël continues his exploration for the universal melody.
As well as having worked with a great variety of Albertan musicians and singers of all cultures, Joël is in high demand in the Edmonton area as a guitar teacher. He also offers songwriting workshops for the Centre de Développement musical (CDM) in Edmonton and Peace River.
